Insurgence is a raiding guild that focuses on having as little drama as possible. We are a pretty laid back guild, but we do have a handful of common sense rules that we expect our members to follow. Most of these things should go without saying, but we like to have them in writing anyway.
- Treat your guild mates with respect. If someone informs you that something you're doing is offending them cut it out and move on. There's enough to worry about without picking fights within the guild. Don't try to piss people off, even if you feel like they deserve it.
- You won't always get along with everyone in the guild. If you have a problem with a guild member, approach them about it in a civil fashion that does not in any way involve Guild Chat, Raid Chat, or any other "public" place that will generate unwanted drama. Let's not let little things build up into big things. We're all here for similar reasons and we should strive to get along.
- Having said that, get thick skin. If someone makes a joke about something and you don't like it, it's not the end of the world. It's a joke. We won't be strictly controlling what's said in guild chat, we'll just ask that you try to be cool about what you say, and how you react to what you hear. If something really offends you, bring it to the attention of the Guild Leadership.
- We are not a guild that will give you a free ride, pay for your epic mount, or hold your hand through every quest, instance or heroic; there are going to be times when you're going to have to PuG things. There’s a fine line between asking for help, and begging. Remember that every other member worked hard to get where they are, they did not receive a free ride either. Excessive spamming for help will not endear you to the powers that be.
- Be respectful and accepting of leadership decisions. Recognise that their job is not always easy and clear-cut, and sometimes difficult decisions need to be made. If you have an issue with any decision, take it up with the leadership in private.
- The general rule is all communication in public channels should be civil, respectful, clean and non-disruptive; don't start drama, don't fuel drama, and keep trash talk off the Realm Forums. Always ask yourself this - If you suspect what you’re doing could possibly be a disruption on any level, then why are you doing it?
- Be cool in PuG's; don't be a ninja, don't be a jerk, don't tell your AV group that they should all die in a fire for capping Snowfall. Be respectful of everyone, whether or not they're in our guild. Interaction outside of the guild is paramount to what people will think of the internal structure. Remember, we all shape the future of the guild and its success/ reputation.
- Don't take advantage of the Guild Bank. Anything that is made available to you is for use on scheduled 25man raids. Not for off-night activities, resale, or 'just cos' If you're the type of person that is going to make us check the bank log every day to see why we're getting ripped off, you're going to be confronted about it.
- We're here to have fun. If you are bringing an attitude to and you're clearly not enjoying yourself, you're having a negative impact on the rest of the guild. The guild environment should be a fun, relaxing time spent away from nagging partners, crying babies, paying the bills, peak hour traffic, and apocalyptic locust swarms. If you're at the point where being a part of this stressing you out then please take a break if needed.
So in summary, don't be a jerk, don't incite drama, think before you talk, be fair with the guild bank, and have fun. If you repeatedly violate these basic rules of common etiquette then you simply won't be raiding with us.
